Use this checklist if Pinball FX VR on Meta Quest reaches the X-Arcade setup flow, but the game does not settle cleanly into table play or the flippers do not take over after docking the Quest controllers.
This is most useful when:
- the Gen 2 dongle appears paired and active
- the game asks whether you want to use X-Arcade mode
- the Quest boundary or passthrough view keeps getting in the way
- the virtual table does not line up correctly
- pressing both physical flippers does not finish the setup as expected
First: Confirm the Wireless Setup
For Quest wireless play:
- Power the Arcade2TV-XR from the USB-C power input.
- Plug the Gen 2 wireless dongle into the Quest headset.
- Do not connect the rear USB-B data cable to a PC during wireless Quest play.
- If the Quest menu or search field responds to the controller, the dongle path is already reaching the headset.
If the Quest does not receive any controller or keyboard-style input at all, troubleshoot the dongle pairing or dongle mode before using the recovery steps below.
Recovery Steps
- Fully power off the Meta Quest headset for about 10 seconds.
- Power off or disconnect the Gen 2 dongle during the reset.
- Power the Arcade2TV-XR back on with USB-C power.
- Reconnect the Gen 2 dongle to the Quest headset.
- Start Pinball FX VR again with the dongle already connected.
- If the boundary grid appears, choose Stationary boundary mode.
- Stand facing the Arcade2TV-XR before confirming the game mode.
- When Pinball FX VR asks which control mode to use, choose X-Arcade.
- Place both Quest controllers in the Arcade2TV-XR controller holders.
- Press both physical side flipper buttons at the same time.
- When the table-mode tiles appear above the backglass, choose Classic.
Expected Result
After the reset and setup sequence, Pinball FX VR should leave the stuck boundary / passthrough setup state and let the physical flipper buttons control the table.
If It Still Does Not Work
Send support:
- your Quest model
- whether the Gen 2 dongle works in the Quest menu or search field
- whether you are using USB-C power only or also connecting the rear USB-B cable
- whether Pinball FX VR offers the X-Arcade mode prompt
- whether the issue happens before or after selecting Classic
Important Boundaries
- This is a recovery path for a specific Quest / Pinball FX VR setup symptom, not a replacement for all dongle-pairing diagnostics.
- If Quest menu input does not work at all through the dongle, start with dongle pairing and mode checks first.
- If the physical controller also fails when tested directly on a PC, handle that as a controller hardware or firmware issue instead of a Pinball FX VR boundary issue.
