What the standalone 3" USB trackball is

The standalone 3-inch USB trackball assembly we sell is the same trackball used in the X-Arcade Tankstick and Tankstick Max, and it is suitable for that style of DIY build.

What it does (USB mouse device)

The standalone trackball is designed to function as a standard USB mouse input device.

Because it is a mouse device:

  • It will work on systems and in games/emulators that support mouse input.
  • On consoles, whether it works depends on whether the specific game supports mouse input and whether your adapter chain passes mouse input.

What it does NOT do

The standalone trackball assembly is not a full X-Arcade control panel and does not include features that come from an X-Arcade controller PCB, such as:

  • CLR / MODE / TURBO functions
  • Joystick and button inputs
  • XInput / DInput controller modes

Quick test on a Windows PC

  1. Plug the trackball directly into a Windows PC (no hub/extension for the first test).
  2. Move the trackball and confirm the mouse cursor moves smoothly.
  3. If it does not move correctly, contact support and include a short video of the issue and a photo of the assembly.

Still stuck?

Contact support@xgaming.com and tell us:

  • What device/system you are trying to use it with (Windows, Raspberry Pi, console, etc.)
  • What game/emulator you are testing
  • Any adapters/converters in the chain (if any)
