Presentation Mode:

For cabinets purchased after 6/2017, there is a new Presentation Mode that disables some features that you may want to avoid being triggered accidentally when used in a public setting. Specifically, it disables Favorites, Reboot, Sleep, volume control via joystick, and it extends the Screensaver and Sleep settings to keep it running without interruption for a full day. To change between them, do the commands below, the Maximus software will restart on its own when complete.

Enable Presentation Mode Hold Player 2 Start button (or 2 on your keyboard) + Press F12
Disable Presentation Mode
Hold Player 2 Start button (or 2 on your keyboard) + Press F11

If you purchased your cabinet after 6/2017 (or want to change these settings individually) you can change these settings manually using the information below or download this update which includes it

If you have an older Machine that did not include Genesis games, you will get an "Invalid Locations" message about Sega Genesis. If you get this, just click 'Yes', click on the Display Order' tab, click to highlight Sega Genesis on the right and click 'Delete", then just click the Close button.

IMPORTANT: Do not change any settings you don't understand, and make a note of any changes you make so you can undo them if needed.

Screensaver

The default screensaver is enabled by default and plays random games after a set period of time of non-use. To exit the screensaver just use your default exit game command or button. To change the settings or disable the screensaver:

  1. While in the menus (not in a game); on the keyboard press Right Ctrl + P (hold Ctrl key on right-side of keyboard and press letter P key) to bring up Maximus Preferences
  2. Click on the 'Options' tab, then the 'Screensaver' sub-tab.
  3. Uncheck the box next to 'Screensaver Active' to disable the Maximus screensaver, or change any settings here to your liking.

Power and Sleep Settings

To change power and sleep settings on your cabinet:

  1. While in the menus (not in a game); on the keyboard press Right Ctrl + Q (hold Ctrl key on right-side of keyboard and press letter Q key) to exit to Windows.
  2. Click the Start button on the lower-left corner of the screen and search for 'power', then choose 'Power Options' from the search results.
  3. On the left of the Power Options window, you will see options to choose when to turn off the display and when the computer sleeps. You can also change advanced settings such as when the hard drive turns off if needed.

Favorites Settings

If your cabinet is being used in a public location instead of a home, you may want to also disable the Favorites toggle. To do that:

  2. Click on the 'Controller' tab, then the 'Setup 2' sub-tab.
  3. To the right of 'Toggle Favorites List' click in the text box to highlight it, and press thebutton to clear the field. (If you ever need to change it back, it should be 'SPACE, Q')
  4. Click the 'Menus' subtab, and remove the '2' next to 'Emulator Menu' as you did above.
  5. Click 'Save;' then 'OK', then 'Yes' to overwrite.
  6. Click close to go back into the game menus.
